10-Day Tibet Itinerary – Kathmandu-Lhasa-Kathmandu overland (budget)
Day 1 — Kathmandu
Arrival in Kathmandu. Evening welcome meeting, document check and group briefing. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 2 — Kathmandu → Border Town (Kerung/Gyirong area)
Early departure; scenic drive toward the Nepal–China border. Border formalities and rest overnight in border town (basic guesthouse). Light walking only.
Day 3 — Border → Tingri / Tingri Area
Cross into Tibet; continue to Tingri region. Slow pace, short walks for acclimatization and photo stops. Overnight simple lodge.
Day 4 — Tingri → Everest Viewpoint / Rongbuk (weather permitting)
Early drive for Everest north-face viewpoints and Rongbuk Monastery / panoramic stops. Afternoon drive to Shigatse. Overnight Shigatse.
Day 5 — Shigatse → Gyantse → Lhasa (arrive evening)
Visit Tashilhunpo and Gyantse (Pelkor Chode & Kumbum). Continue scenic drive to Lhasa. Arrive evening. Overnight Lhasa.
Day 6 — Lhasa (taking it easy for acclimatization + Jokhang & Barkhor)
Easy morning, visit Jokhang Temple and stroll Barkhor market. Afternoon rest. Overnight Lhasa.
Day 7 — Potala Palace + Drepung/Sera Monastery
Guided visit to Potala Palace (subject to permit slots) and one monastery with time for observing monk debates or chanting. Overnight Lhasa.
Day 8 — Lhasa leisure / optional cultural workshop
Free day for museums, shopping, or optional Tibetan cultural workshop (cooking, incense, or handicraft). Overnight Lhasa.
Day 9 — Lhasa → Gyirong / Border town (start return)
Leisurely drive partway back toward the border; scenic stops and overnight in border area or Shigatse depending on timing.
Day 10 — Border → Kathmandu (arrival late afternoon/evening)
Cross back into Nepal and drive to Kathmandu. Tour ends on arrival; hotel drop-off included.

Price & Payment Terms
Retail price: €1100 per person (land only)
Early-bird: €1000 if deposit & full payment received 90+ days before departure.
Deposit: 25% of total to confirm the booking (non-refundable once Tibet permits are submitted; bank charges may also apply).
Balance: Due 45 days before departure.
Payment methods: Bank transfer, cash, credit cards bank surcharges apply
Single room supplement: €210 (for wanted single rooms where available; limited on highway guesthouses).
Minimum group: 6 pax. If minimum not met we will (a) offer alternative dates, (b) offer small-group supplement, or (c) refund deposit minus bank cost and already incurred expenses.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
Cancellation >60 days before departure: full refund of balance minus non-refundable permit/admin fees, staff cost, and bank transfers cost.
Cancellation 45–60 days: 50% refund of the balance (permit fees retained).
Cancellation <45 days: no refund (we incur permit & supplier costs).
If the trip is cancelled by us for operational reasons (border closed / permit refused / safety), credit toward another departure will be offered or full refund of balance minus non-refundable permit/admin fees, staff cost, and bank transfers cost.
We strongly advise clients to purchase travel insurance that covers cancellation and emergency evacuation.
Important: once Tibet permits are submitted to local authorities (usually 30–45 days pre-departure) a portion of the deposit becomes non-refundable. We will always disclose the exact non-refundable amount at booking.
Health, Safety & Visa Notes
This itinerary reaches high altitudes (Tingri at 4,300m; Everest viewpoint areas higher). You must be reasonably fit and have time to acclimatize. Consult your doctor if you have heart or respiratory issues.
Travel insurance with emergency medical evacuation and high-altitude coverage is mandatory.
Chinese visa: we take care of China Group Visa and Tibet Permit from Nepal needed for this trip.
Border and route are subject to seasonal/operational changes — itinerary may be amended for safety. We will notify you promptly and offer alternative arrangements if needed.

Upgrade Lhasa hotels to 4★: €90–€160 per person (total for stay).
Single supplement upgrade (if required beyond €210 availability): €300 (if guaranteed single rooms on all nights).

Packing & practical tips
Bring layered clothing, a warm jacket, sun hat and sunglasses (sun is strong at altitude).
Basic altitude medicines recommended (consult doctor).
Lightweight daypack, reusable water bottle, personal toiletries and basic meds.
Local currency (Nepalese Rupees) for small purchases; some places accept cards but cash is useful.
Power adapters: China/Nepal plug types may differ — bring a universal adapter.

Q: Do I need a China visa?
A: No – we take care of China group visa and Tibet permit from Nepal after you book the trip with us.
Q: Is the trip suitable for children/older travellers?
A: Children aged 10+ who are fit can usually travel; older travellers should consult their doctor. The trip includes long drives and high altitudes.
Q: What if the border is closed?
A: If border/permit issues force a route change or cancellation, we will notify you and offer alternative arrangements or will refund your amount subtracting the amount already incurred in visa processing, staff cost, and covering for bank transfers.
Q: How many people per vehicle?
A: Typically 6–14 on group departures in comfortable coaches/4×4 caravans.
